Nature is wonderfully messy and unpredictable. It’s constantly changing and evolving. The very nature of nature helps me create a new way to view something familiar.
Inspiration for my landscapes is drawn from my years spent growing up on a ranch in northern California surrounded by glorious yellow hills, oak trees and manzanita. Now, I am influenced by the eternally majestic mountains and lakes of Colorado.
Light and shadow play a role in every work I create. Color often becomes the focal point in more abstract landscapes, especially as the seasons change. I use both brush and palette knife, along with a mix of various gels to build texture. All these elements help me express how nature speaks to me.
